Shunt Truck Operator.
Responsibilities
- Safely move trailers to and from loading docks and throughout the site.
- Conduct and log daily pre-trip inspections on equipment.
- Troubleshoot and report any operational or equipment issues.
- Load and unload trailers while ensuring product accuracy and safety.
- Inspect trailers and pallets for cleanliness and readiness.
- Verify orders against Bill of Lading and update inventory records.Use “Wow” inventory system to record movements and updates.
- Work in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks.
- Assist with additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- 1 to 3 years of experience in trucking or trailer shunting.
- Minimum 6 months preferred in food manufacturing, forklift use, or warehouse roles.
Skills
- Valid 1A class driver’s license.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to operate 53ft trailers and perform precision backing.
- Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
- Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in all weather.
Knowledge
- Trailer safety and load securing methods.
- Warehouse shipping and receiving documentation processes.
- Food safety and hygiene practices.
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting for transport equipment.
- Use of digital inventory or warehouse systems.
