 As a Package Handler at FedEx, you will be responsible for the physical loading, unloading, sorting, and movement of packages by hand. The role requires consistent physical activity and attention to safety while supporting efficient package flow through the operation. Specialised roles such as Air Package Handler and Package Handler Trainer are available based on experience and training.

Location & Work Type

• Location: Varies by facility
• Work Type: Part-time or full-time opportunities available
• Shifts: Typically 3–5 hours, with the possibility of multiple shifts per day
• Environment: Indoor/outdoor; exposure to hot, cold, and noisy conditions

Key Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and sort packages manually using hand-to-surface methods
• Move packages between delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, and conveyors
• Lift, carry, push, and pull packages (5 to 50 lbs) continuously during shifts
• Use handheld scanners and sorting charts to direct packages correctly
• Maintain safety, accuracy, and efficiency during all handling tasks
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Specialised Roles

• Trainer: Instructs PHs on safe and efficient handling methods; provides feedback and reinforces safety procedures
• Air Handler: Performs multi-step inspections to prevent air-restricted items from being loaded

Requirements

• No formal education or prior experience required
• Ability to understand and follow work instructions and safety protocols
• Must be physically able to perform repetitive lifting, walking, and manual tasks
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Must pass any required testing, training, and annual re-certifications
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record may be required for specific roles
• Bilingualism (English and French) required in Quebec

Preferred for Specialised Roles

• PH Trainer: 6+ months as a FedEx Package Handler preferred
• PH – Air: 6+ months experience and completion of IAC and Airlift training
