Key Responsibilities
- Operate Class 2-5 vehicles and heavy machinery, including excavators, rollers, graders, and trucks for civil and road maintenance projects.
- Assist with general roadworks and manual labor tasks, using tools and machinery as needed.
- Work collaboratively with a close-knit maintenance team to deliver high-quality infrastructure results.
- Uphold and follow all health and safety protocols in accordance with Downer’s strict safety guidelines.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on machinery and report any mechanical or safety concerns.
- Contribute to Downer’s mission to maintain and improve New Zealand’s critical road infrastructure.
Requirements
- A valid New Zealand Class 2-5 Full Driver’s License (essential for all Class 2-5 Driver jobs in Auckland).
- Demonstrated experience in civil construction, road maintenance, or similar work environments.
- Confidence operating excavators and other heavy machinery (e.g., rollers, graders).
- Wheels, Tracks, and Rollers (WTR) endorsements are highly preferred.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and adaptable to various job site requirements.
- Strong focus on safety, with the ability to follow detailed operational and compliance standards.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening, medical assessment, and Ministry of Justice background check.
