Why Be an ALT with Borderlink?

 Qualifications and Experience
Borderlink welcomes applicants from around the world who are passionate about teaching and ready for an adventure.

Essential Requirements for Visa Sponsorship (Overseas or Domestic):

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized university.

  • 12 years of education where English was the main medium of instruction for all classes (e.g., attending a bilingual school or living abroad). This is necessary for visa eligibility.

For Applicants Already in Japan:

  • If you hold a valid resident or working visa, you may be eligible for positions starting sooner, including limited openings in the current school year.

Highly Preferred (Priority Consideration):

  • Prior teaching experience with young learners, especially experience in Japan.

  • An ESL-related certificate (TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, etc.).

  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to drive in Japan (for driving positions).

  • Conversational Japanese speaking and listening skills.
