HD PUMPS (WINNELLIE)
Are you a hands-on person who enjoys working outdoors and solving problems? HD Pumps, a trusted name in Darwin for over 40 years, is looking for a Swimming Pool Technician to join their team. In this role, you’ll look after a wide mix of sites from local residential pools to large commercial aquatic centres and complex plant rooms. It’s a role that blends technical skill with a keen eye for detail, ensuring water quality and equipment reliability across the Territory. You’ll work on a rotating roster (one weekend on, one off) with applicable penalty rates, giving you a great work-life balance while you build a long-term career.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance across a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential sites.

Test and treat water quality, ensuring it meets strict safety and compliance standards.

Diagnose and repair faults in pumps, filters, chlorinators, and chemical dosing equipment.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date job records using the TimeTrak mobile management system.

Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients while on site.

Ensure your service vehicle and tools are well-organised, clean, and ready for the next job.

Adhere to all OH&S requirements and contribute to a strong safety culture within the team.
What We’re Looking For
We’re on the hunt for someone practical, reliable, and keen to learn. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical mindset, even if it hasn’t been applied to pools yet.
Essential Skills & Requirements:

A strong mechanical aptitude and natural problem-solving ability.

Practical hands-on experience in any trade, maintenance, or labouring role.

The ability to work independently across multiple sites and manage your own time.

A current NT Manual Driver’s Licence and your own basic hand tools (specialist gear is provided).

A current or recent National Police Check (or willingness to obtain one).

Australian citizenship is required due to site access and security protocols at some facilities.

Good communication skills and a professional, friendly manner with clients.

Physical fitness and comfort working outdoors in the Darwin climate.
Desirable (But Not Essential):

Previous experience as a pool technician.

Knowledge of pool chemistry, water testing, and filtration systems.
